Louvre Abu Dhabi, the museum of universal nature is widely known for its ability to attract as the cultural landmark not only of Abu Dhabi but also of the whole UAE. Abu Dhabi and France, come together under the name of Louvre Abu Dhabi to establish a new journey of discovering everything, opening the minds and hearts of the people of the universe. With exhibits that cover ancient civilizations, modern artistic inspiration and everything in between, the museum offers visitors a chance to navigate, compare and glimpse the human values embedded in history.
The museum has a budget of 650 million dollars which is allocated to installations of the permanent ones which take up 65,000 square feet, with some pieces on loan from such prestigious institutions as the Musée du Louvre and Musée d’Orsay. Exhibitions are designed in a chronological way in four eras – starting from archaeology and the birth of Islam and ending up in the modern era. The museum also reserves space for temporary exhibitions and has an area set aside for the kids, thus providing everyone with an immersive and enlightening experience.
From the architectural point of view, The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a real marvel, as it stands out for Jean Nouvel’s design that draws its inspiration from historical Arabian architecture. The combination of the white structures that are matched with the amazing dome that has a lace pattern of geometric shapes and the cladding that contains thousands of star-like patterns creates a magical, Arabian-inspired city. This sophisticated pattern is where the rays get through dimly, giving the whole place a magical atmosphere of light and shade, popularly known as the ‘rain of light’. It is found adjacent to the splendid cultural area of Saadiyat, which is home to other museums of international acclaim.
